American threads

 photo MayAmericanThreads039_zpsb74de689.jpg

There's a movement right now that caters to those who want quality craftsmanship, things made in small factories or local studios, and things that will last. Classic pieces that will wear in, not out. The general offerings are abundant, but the choices for clothing and accessories made specifically for women are a bit sparse. They are out there, but they're just more difficult to track down.

I'm rebuilding my wardrobe from the ground up, and in doing so have leaned more and more towards clothing I can live in and wear in. I'm not looking for the trend of the moment, I'm looking for the classics and quality that comes out of true American made clothing.

This blog will follow that search, with reviews, outfits, features, and more. If you know of a brand or maker that would be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you.

  1. Hi, Solanah! I really loved your other blog, Vixen Vintage, and I understand the feeling of rebuilding a wardrobe, especially since style, particularly personal style, is always changing. It's obvious that the quality of clothing is not the best these days, so it's really great that you're trying to find brands that take pride in making quality pieces, especially for women. I will be looking forward to future posts!
    Have a wonderful day!

  2. I'm currently doing this myself and if I can think of any companies, will drop you a comment here about them. Good luck with your search. I'll be watching to see what items you give a thumbs up or down to.

  6. You should check out Iladora: http://www.iladora.com/. SF-made fashionable AND comfortable cycling apparel for ladies. I backed their Kickstarter and got the most amazing pair of work-appropriate, super comfortable, bike-commute-friendly slacks that have magnets to keep your cuff from falling down!

There's also The Paraders, a vintage-inspired (and vintage) clothing company based in my Chicago neighborhood: http://theparaders.com/

Looking forward to more of your finds!

  8. I'm just thrilled for what you are beginning here. Lately I've been feeling so down and out about "fashion" as we know it now. I have never been much of a trend follower, and I am absolutely sick and tired of buying clothes that fall apart. Simple and classic fits the bill. As does American made. I'm looking forward to discovering some new and wonderful people to buy my closet staples from. Thanks for sharing!
